Direct and Indirect Speech

Direct speech is the sentence that is in use the first person in the conversation to the person or second person, while Indirect sentence indirect speech is delivered to a question, or recount what was said the first person to the other without changing what the him.

Example :
1.       Direct speech    : Mira says, “  I am  late today because the rain”
     Indirect speech : Mira says to me she late today because the rain 
2.       Direct speech    : My mom says, “ Ryan don’t go anywhere, i need your help”
      Indirect speech : My mom says to me not go anywhere because she need a help

3.       Direct speech    : Rizky says, “ my holiday so wonderfully i am go to france”
      Indirect Speech: Rizky says to me he’s holliday so wonderfully he go to france

Police to summon alleged sex abuse cleric

Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto said the police have Hasan bin Jafar Assegaf for questioning on Thursday(indirect speech). Rikwanto confirmed the cleric will be questioned as a witness in the case against him of alleged sexual abuse.

“The questioning is slated for 9 a.m. on Thursday. We are going to clarify some of our findings with him,” Rikwanto told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.(Direct speech)

So far, the police have questioned 11 victims, seven of whom were below the age of 17 and so needed to be psychologically examined before they could be questioned as witnesses.

Rikwanto added that the police were also currently gathering evidence concerning vulgar conversations between the cleric and his male students before he allegedly committed the abuse against them.

Cleric Hasan bin Jafar Assegaf has been accused of sexually profiting from his role as a spiritual teacher to a group of young boy students for years.
